Questions? Answers.

Is Limitly really free?

Yes. No account, no trial, no subscription. If it saves you from a surprise rate limit now and then, there’s an optional “buy me a coffee” in the app.

Which tools does it work with?

Claude, Cursor and Codex. Each one gets its own tab and its own spot in the menu bar.

How does it know my usage?

You log in to each tool once, inside Limitly, just like in a browser. Limitly then reads the same usage numbers the tool’s own usage page shows you, once a minute.

Does it use my tokens or need an API key?

No. It never sends a prompt or touches your API quota, and there are no keys to paste.

Does anything leave my Mac?

Your logins and usage numbers stay on your Mac. Limitly sends one anonymous ping a day (a random ID, the app version and your theme) so I know how many people use it, and the server notes a rough location (country and city) from that connection. Anything you send with Send Feedback comes to me.

Is Limitly made by Anthropic, OpenAI or Cursor?

No. It’s an independent app by one product builder, not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them.

Will it warn me before I run out?

Yes. You get a notification when you drop below 50% and below 10%, when a limit resets, and if a login expires.

What do I need to run it?

A Mac with macOS 14 Sonoma or later.

How does it update?

Automatically. New versions install in the background, and the panel tells you what’s new.

How do I uninstall it?

Click Quit Limitly in its Settings, then drag Limitly from Applications to the Trash.

Can I request a theme or a feature?

Please do! Use Send Feedback in Limitly’s Settings, or the + next to the themes on this page.
